Northwest Power and Conservation Council power planning director Terry Morlan and the Regional Technical Forum (RTF), which is charged with verifying conservation savings, have been honored for their stellar efforts to maximize energy efficiency investments across the region.

In a brief ceremony at the Council’s recent monthly meeting, NW Energy Coalition policy director presented two letters of commendation:

  • One recognizing the commitment of the Regional Technical Forum’s professional and volunteer members.
  • Another recognizing Morlan for helping to guide the RTF and for helping the Council develop the Sixth Northwest Power and Conservation, which calls for using energy efficiency to meet 85% of the region’s new electricity needs over the next 20 years.

The NW Energy Coalition’s full board voted to extend these honors during December’s Clean & Affordable Energy Conference. Texts of two resolutions follow.

Regional Technical Forum resolution:

WHEREAS the Northwest needs energy efficiency and new clean renewable resources both to meet future energy needs and to avoid building new polluting power plants while phasing out existing ones; and

WHEREAS investments in energy efficiency made over the last 30 years now are saving Northwest families and businesses $1.6 billion per year; and

WHEREAS energy efficiency investments stimulate economic development, create jobs, save money for consumers and protect against price shocks; and

WHEREAS the Northwest Power and Conservation Council’s Sixth Power and Conservation Plan relies on energy efficiency to meet 85% of the region’s new electricity needs over the next 20 years; and

WHEREAS the Regional Technical Forum’s diligent professional and volunteer members play crucial roles in verifying the energy efficiency savings on which the region relies; and

WHEREAS the NW Energy Coalition expects the Regional Technical Forum to continue its commitment to increased region-wide energy efficiency acquisition;

Therefore be it resolved that the

NW Energy Coalition commends members of the
