Boise conference report
The NW Energy Coalition welcomed clean energy advocates from around the region to its jam-packed NW Clean & Affordable Energy Conference May 30 – June 1 in Boise.
An impressive array of energy experts addressed today’s critical challenges and opportunities for advancing clean energy. Attendees were treated to a keynote address by Dennis Gilles of Boise-based U.S. Geothermal on geothermal energy investments and opportunities. Boise Mayor Dave Bieter highlighted the city’s notable clean energy and sustainability achievements during his tenure.
Friday’s panels focused on increased use of small-scale renewables such as solar and wind, realizing energy savings in rural areas and breaking the deadlock on Columbia Basin salmon recovery. After a day of dynamic policy discussions, attendees convened for an evening reception honoring Boise State University Prof. John Gardner with a Conservation Eagle Award for his leadership in building a clean and affordable energy future.
