The Benton Public Utility District showed off its Ely Community Solar Project to its customers Wednesday and held a ribbon-cutting ceremony. An array of solar panels is lined up on the PUD property, visible from Highway 395 at the 10th Avenue intersection. The project has been operating since July 1, and those who invested will see savings on their next monthly electric bill.
2014 NW Clean & Affordable Energy Conference photos
Some 180 people – the most ever — attended Friday’s addresses and panels. Attendees learned about influencing behavior to fulfill energy efficiency potential; discussed opportunities and challenges to cleanly replacing aging, dirty power sources, considered consumer protection and utility revenue concerns surrounding expanded solar and other distributed generation; and got up to speed on how…
The Seattle Foundation will partially match your contribution to the NW Energy Coalition during the GiveBIG event on May 6!
You believe in clean energy solutions, so we invite you to help us achieve them on Tuesday, May 6. Your gift on this day will go further thanks to a match by our executive board and the Seattle Foundation. Contributions from supporters such as you empower the NW Energy Coalition’s critical work advancing energy efficiency and renewable energy; transitioning our region off of coal power; growing low-income weatherization; and restoring wild salmon harmed by the power system.
Northwest Energy Efficiency Alliance could be cut nearly 30%: Attend a hearing and stop the budget cuts!

Washington legislature: I-937 survives challenges while new clean energy bills stall; operating budget provides oddly mixed message
Thanks to the steadfast efforts of activists such as you, our Clean Energy Initiative 937 has weathered another stormy legislative session. Despite numerous bills to weaken its energy efficiency and new renewables standards, I-937 emerged from the session not only relatively unscathed, but in some ways strengthened.
4 Under Forty: An event to honor young energy leaders
The NW Energy Coalition is proud to honor four clean energy leaders, age 40 and under, at our 4 Under Forty event in Seattle this June. If you know someone who has shown great leadership in building clean and affordable energy solutions, please take a few minutes to share their story with us. More details on the Seattle event will follow shortly. In the meantime please submit your nomination today and give the young leaders you know a chance to be recognized for the great work they do every day.
Stop the clean energy rollbacks!
Several bills moving toward floor votes in Olympia would undercut our clean energy law, Initiative 937, and reduce Washington’s commitment to a clean and affordable energy future. Proposed changes include allowing coal purchases from the TransAlta plant to reduce utilities’ renewable energy obligations. Tell your state legislators to stop rollbacks to I-937 and clean energy!
