NWEC fall conference site's eco features

This December, the NW Energy Coalition presents the 2015 Clean & Affordable Energy Conference and Awards Gala at the fantastic and eco-friendly Conference Center at the Washington State Convention Center. The Conference Center reflects the ecologically-conscious values of Coalition members and allies, and we think it’s the perfect place to tackle our region’s most pressing energy issues.

According to the Conference Center, the venue was built with conservation and sustainability in mind. It is certified LEED Silver for its sustainable construction practices, furnishings and equipment, and nearly 90% of all construction waste was reclaimed and recycled. What’s the bottom line for you? You get to sit in chairs made from recycled water bottles at this year’s conference!

Help us promote sustainability by bringing your own water bottle and/or coffee mug!

On Thursday we’ll consider the ongoing climate-related changes to Columbia basin river flows, their effects on hydroelectric generation, and how the Northwest power system and regional decision-makers should respond. Experts from around the region will address effects on salmon and renewable energy development, as well as opportunities for electric vehicles and energy efficiency. We’ll also weigh the best utility rate design strategies for advancing clean and affordable energy. Our board, caucuses and general membership meet on Friday.
